When I read the synopsis I was convinced this was a dark, dark story about a girl who is kidnapped and forced into prostitution and was ready to question myself for reading such a book. However once I got into the story I realized that it was so much more! The story does not read like a straight line from point A to point B, it skips back and forth within a two month span of time in the beginning. Not only does the reader get to have the main characters point of view but the story is rounded out by incorporating the perspective of other key people. This adds a great deal to the plot. The main character, Vivienne Taylor, is a strong, remarkable woman. She fights for her life and against all odds comes out a survivor. This book is a great read for anyone who likes suspense, plot twists and romance. It could defiantly use polishing from an editor but despite that I HIGHLY recommend giving this new author your time, you won't regret it!

I had a little trouble getting into this one because I do not like books that bounce back and forth between now and the past but there was just something about this one that grabbed hold and would not let go. The ended was so totally unexpected. Excellent writing here.
A friend recommended this book as soon as I read the preview I was sucked in. It's hard to find a book that really grabs your attention and Dead in a Ditch definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat! I cannot wait to see what surprises Heather Lynn Osting has up her sleeve for book number two! I am dying to read more!
So Vivienne wakes up in a ditch broken and knocking on death's door, the story starts with a plot that pulls you in because you just HAVE to know how she ended up in this condition. But that pull I felt in the beginning quickly left me. There were a lot of grammer issues, but I usually find those in ebooks for some reason. The thing that bothered me about the story was the story line...it just didnt feel believable. Again the story hasgreat bones but the the characters didnt seem realistic in a lot of their actions and thoughts. The fact that the FBI kept giving her info was truely annoying because we all know the govt is all about keeping some damn secrets lol. Overall all it was an okay read, and if there are more in this series I'll probably read them. I must say though, the ending was WAY off course of what I thought was realistic but hey what do I know.
This book had me hooked from page one. It took me a couple of days to read but only because of holiday commitments I couldn't dodge. I could easily have gotten through it in one sitting if time had allowed. A good story with good twists and turns that never failed to keep me fully intrigued! I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good thriller.
I highly recommend this book! The author did an amazing job at giving enough detail to bring the story to life, without overdoing it. I fell in love with the main character, Vivienne, & her headstrong attitude. I can't wait to read more with her in it. This book made me laugh & cry. There's a lot of twists & turns, so I don't want to go into too much detail, but I love Janet Evanovich, Sue Grafton, Harlan Coben, & Patricia Cornwell, so if you enjoy any of their books, I really think you'll love this one as well!
This book contains many grammar errors suggesting that Ms. Osting needs a professional editor. However, even with these impediments, the plot is interesting.
Vivienne Taylor, a young adult from a rural area suffers abuse at her father's hands and rebels by following her cousins to a biker meeting. Once there she meets Knox, a handsome biker. That very evening she is kidnapped by a member of Knox's clan. Knox rescues Vivienne and makes her his "old lady." Romance flourishes in the inconceivable circumstances and Vivienne falls in love. Against insurmountable odds she must find a way to survive.
First, I read the 442-page "Dead in a Ditch" in six hours today, which should tell you whatever you need to know.
It is a wonderful first novel, with a compelling heroine and a divergent cast of heroes and villains driving a strong plot full of twists and turns to a satisfying finale. The story comfortably drew me in, once I convinced myself to regard the occasional lapses in grammar as in-character dialect instead of annoying errors. But that is a minor quibble over what is undeniably an engaging read.
I look forward to "Red" Taylor's adventures to come, in and out of "Doofus."
